Apparently this is the third worst loss in the history of Rupp arena? Nobody on that Kentucky team looked like they were having any fun tonight. Cal has got to be losing support.

Their official game thread on Rupps Rafters has 1000 responses.

Reported elsewhere that a Bama player was talking smack to Cal toward the end of the game . Any one know who ? My first thought is Petty .

It was Primo, and Harper said it was just playful stuff he said to Cal.

Cal said the player asked him the score and Cal told him he knew what it was. I wonder if UK recruited Primo
Ahhh...I'm not crazy about that from Primo if true unless he and Cal have a relationship where it's not obnoxious to joke at that point.

Primo better be ready to back up his words. UK coming to Tuscaloosa in a week and a half. We might be without Herb and Bruner, so Primo will have plenty of floor time.

Didn't Cal try to get in on Primo after they had struck out on half a dozen 5* kids? If so it wouldn't surprise me if he promised Primo they'll lose to the cats 6 or 7 times before he leaves Tuscaloosa. With all the snarky implied put down of not just never beating UK but not getting enough good pub and coaching to go pro early.

I don't put it past Cal to be saying stuff to his players as far as stopping Primo or putting a body on other players and letting them feel it. So ...... I'm not going to judge for a comment like that towards Big City Cal.

Maybe the “one and done” is finally catching up with Coach Cal.
Don't know many but a true "insider" former assistant coach who started with Cal as a grad assistant told me two weeks ago when I asked what was the problem with the Cats. He told me two things: Kenny Payne going to the Knicks was the biggest. He said Payne was a great big man coach but more importantly the players loved him. He was the guy in the dorms at night and hanging out with them. "He was the kind of guy who would cuss their asses out at practice and then them tuck them in at night." They really didn't like Cal that much.

Secondly, he said, "When you live by the one-and-done, you die by the one-and-done! All is takes is one class where you mis-evaluated 3 players or so and you're dead."

FWIW

We don’t know the whole story on who said what first. And we don’t know how many times Cal called, texted, etc Primo in the past. So they probably aren’t strangers. It’s all good fun.
Cal has been left behind in the game. He hasn’t evolved. I mentioned him under delivering not long ago and got bashed. With the talent he’s had, and he’s only won one championship and he’s at Kentucky? That’s a big deal.

First, although there are exceptions, we fans are a lot more sensitive about remarks than are players and coaches!

I am not sure Cal has been "left behind" in keeping up with the game. He has sure put a lot of young guys in the pros! It just seems today that most teams that win the NCAA have at least a couple of seasoned veterans, especially at the 1 and 3/4 positions. Seems that they almost always have a junior/senior in there somewhere.

Frankly, the UK fans have not been a proponent of his "one-and-done" strategy for quite a while. The primary reason being, "These kids have no loyalty to the University. They just see this as a shortcut to get to the NBA. How many have degrees from UK?"

On the other hand, they are stuck with him for quite a while, UNLESS he chooses to go somewhere else - like the NBA!

Did you watch the game? Kentucky is cross screening in the post like it’s 1995. They might have 3 guys in and around the paint during an offensive possession. They didn’t have a guard that even scared us in terms or driving it and/or shooting it. This is a guards world and 3’s are a big part of it. It’s drive and kick or ball screen. Cal hasn’t adjusted.

Just curious ... what is your “paying” job?

If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me. If you don’t agree with what I said, just tell me what you think about it. I might be wrong. Just my opinion. But don’t remember you posting an actual opinion in your response.
Cals last 10-12 classes have all been 1-2. You think Bama would stand for Saban having the 1-2 class every year and winning it all once?
AndI pay pretty close attention to what’s going on in the world of basketball. It’s changed a ton. Oats is at the forefront of that. Cal isn’t even close. Saban had the same decision to make when he saw how things were changing and he jumped in.
