DeBoer is speaking to reporters after Alabama found out its postseason matchup.
On missing the CFP: "Certainly disappointed we weren't one of the 12 selected. Certainly feel we were one of those."
"I feel like just around our program, the culture is in the right place and the mindset."
DeBoer: "I'm sure there will be some discussions and stuff like that, there always is. Whether you're playing your last game in January or you just did a week ago."
On playing Michigan again: "It was about his group and that's what we'll keep it to when it comes to Michigan and the bowl game."
On improving on inconsistency: "I think there's different reasons for it throughout the course of the year." Said different position groups were "hit with different things" over the course of the season.
DeBoer said he's looking forward to having a full offseason where he can incorporate more details. "The ability in one year to just grow relationships, build trust... it's all part of the process."
On potential opt-outs: "I feel like right now we're in a place where most of those guys are planning on playing.... that's my understanding talking to a few guys."
DeBoer said last year Alabama was in "full out retention mode" and this offseason will provide a lot more opportunities to build the roster without having to focus on keeping so many players.
On WRs who entered the portal Sunday (Kendrick Law, Caleb Odom): "I'll credit those guys. They did a good job doing what they needed to do to help us win."
On Jalen Hale: "I don't anticipate you seeing him in the bowl." Did say that Hale was able to do some activities last week, not full contact. "He's been amazing, just with the timing of his injury, just with his mindset."
More on missing the CFP and strength of schedule: "We want to play in competitive games, we want to play in the best games..." "We want that to happen. That's the exciting thing about college football... We don't want to back down from that and we hope that will be rewarded down the road."
DeBoer on Tyler Booker and Jalen Milroe's bowl game status: "I'll let those guys make their announcements and talk to the team. We'll have a team meeting tomorrow and we'll have opportunities throughout the week."
