Gregg Marshall's time as the Wichita State men's basketball coach is coming to an end after 13 seasons. According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Wichita State is expected to "part ways" with him by the end of the week...

This decision comes after a number of shocking allegations regarding physical and verbal abuse by Marshall toward players and others inside the athletic department surfaced. On Oct. 9, Wichita State released a statement acknowledging the allegations and explaining there was an independent investigation:

"The investigation is being completed in an expeditious and deliberate manner. We have received full cooperation from university staff, coaches, and current student-athletes, and Coach Gregg Marshall and support any individual who chooses to participate in order to conduct a fair, impartial and thorough investigation.

Yikes. To do this 2 weeks before the season starts means there is some pretty damning evidence out there IMO.

To happen this late after the initial noise and so close to the season this feels like a mad scramble into cya mode for Wichita St. As in there was about to not be enough players left to play combined with pending legal action of some kind.

Could also be a case of it took the lawyers this long to spell out their case to deny him all compensation and benefits due to contract violations and maybe even get something back from him.

Regardless, Battle royally screwed the pooch in the hiring process that ended with CAJ but it worked out in us avoiding this train wreck. I can't imagine the state of our program if he had come in on the heels of Grant and then got us into this kind of mess. At Wichita no one will really care outside their program but in T-Town a coach slapping players around would have been a near death sentence to a program already languishing in a sort of perpetual mediocrity.

Exactly. Apparently this has been going on a long time. There is a guy on the Main Board that played for him that confirmed he was a psycho. Apparently one time some parked in his spot and he started beating and kicking the car until they moved. Sounds like dude needs a mood stabilizer.
