TYLER, Texas – The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award today announced the 2023 finalists as determined by the Selection Committee.

Jonathon Brooks - Brooks, a Doak Walker Award semifinalist and All-Big 12 Second Team selection by the conference’s coaches and Associated Press, appeared in 11 games with eight starts. The sophomore established career highs with 187 carries for 1,139 yards (6.1 ypc) and 10 touchdowns, while also catching 25 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown before sustaining an ACL injury during the 10th game of the season. His 1,139 rushing yards on the year are 14th-most in a season in program history.
Through the first 10 games, the Hallettsville, Texas native ranked sixth in the nation in rushing yards (1,139), seventh in rushing yards per game (113.9 ypg) and sixth in all-purpose yards (142.5 ypg). He was second in the Big 12 in all-purpose yards, third in rushing yards, rushing yards per game and total touchdowns (11), and fourth in rushing yards per carry (6.09) and rushing touchdowns (10). His versatility was on display over his final eight games before the injury, rushing 161 times for 1,030 yards (103.0 ypg) and catching 22 passes for 240 yards to total 1,270 yards (127.0 ypg). He had six 100-yard rushing games, tied for the 12th most in season in program history, including a streak of four-straight games that equaled the 11th-longest stretch for a Longhorn.
Over the final eight games he started, Brooks had one 200-yard performance and five 100-yard games, as well as 99-yard and 98-yard rushing games … on the year, he has 14 plays of 20-plus yards (11 rushing, three receiving) with five touchdowns.
Ollie Gordon, II - Became a unanimous All-America selection Thursday as he was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America first team. The AFCA honors round out his inclusion on the first team by all five official selectors designated by the NCAA, as he has already been honored by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Football Writers Association of America, the Associated Press and The Sporting News. He is Oklahoma State’s first unanimous All-America selection since Chuba Hubbard in 2019.
Gordon’s unanimous All-America honors add to an already long list of accolades that include the Doak Walker Award, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and a seventh-place finish in the voting for the Heisman Trophy, while also receiving the most votes for the Heisman by a running back this season.
Entering Bowl Season, Gordon leads the FBS in several major categories including rushing yards (1,614), yards from scrimmage (1,940), 100-yard rushing games (8), 150-yard rushing games (5), 250-yard rushing games and carries of at least 30 yards (14), 40 yards (7) and 70 yards (2). He is second in rushing touchdowns (20), total touchdowns (21) and all-purpose yards (1,940).
His performances against Kansas, West Virginia and Cincinnati made him the only FBS player in the past 10 years with 250 scrimmage yards in three straight games. Gordon also put together a streak of six straight games with more than 120 yards rushing and two straight games with more than 270 yards rushing. His games against WVU and Cincinnati marked the most rushing yards for an OSU player in a two-game span (553) since Heisman-winner Barry Sanders posted 625 yards against Iowa and Texas Tech in 1988. He followed that with another impressive performance in a Bedlam win over No. 9 Oklahoma, producing 156 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
To close the regular season, he rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns in a comeback win at Houston and then put up 166 yards and a school-record matching five rushing touchdowns against BYU to help send the Cowboys to the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship. The only other Cowboy to score five rushing touchdowns in a game is Barry Sanders, and that ties the single-game high for any FBS player in 2023.
Ashton Jeanty – The sophomore running back ranks second nationally in yards from scrimmage (1,814) and all-purpose yards per game (164.9). He has 1,262 rushing yards and 552 receiving yards, scoring 19 total touchdowns. Jeanty is the only player in the FBS with multiple 50+ yard rushing TDs and multiple 50+ yard receiving TDs (two of each). He became the first FBS player since 2016 to reach 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a 10-game span.
Jeanty received numerous accolades during the regular season including MW Offensive Player of the Week, Doak Walker Honor Roll, Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week Honorable Mention twice and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week, November 28th.
Jeanty is the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and All-MW First Team. He was named to the First Team All-America by USA Today and CFN. He was named Second Team All-America by the Associated Press and Action Network. He was also named Honorable Mention All-America by CBS Sports.
Jalen Milroe – Milroe earned the starting quarterback role to start his sophomore campaign. He did not play in the USF contest before being named the starter to open SEC play. He was selected as one of the Crimson Tide's permanent team captains. He earned second team All-SEC recognition from the Associated Press. Milroe ranks second in the conference and fourth nationally in passer efficiency rating at 177.5 ... also second in the SEC and fifth in Division I with a 15.89 yards per completion mark ... averaging 10.41 yards per pass attempt to rank second in the conference and country. He has completed 171-of-261 passes for 2,718 yards and 23 touchdowns compared to six interceptions and has also rushed 140 times for 468 yards and 12 scores ... tied for fourth in the conference and 24th nationally for rushing touchdowns at any position.
He was a finalist for the Manning Award. Named a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award which is given to the top player from Texas. Selected as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, presented each year to college football's top offensive player and added to the watch list for the Maxwell after the LSU matchup. Named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, given annually to the top quarterback in the country and tabbed to the O'Brien Award Midseason Watch List following the Texas A&M contest. Named to the Manning Award's Midseason Watch List after the Arkansas matchup and selected as one of the Davey O'Brien ‘Great 8’ of the Week for his output against Texas A&M, LSU, Kentucky and Auburn. He picked up Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honor Roll recognition following Middle Tennessee, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Auburn while being named the award's Player of the Week after the LSU game. Kaidon Salter – Salter was a Maxwell Award semifinalist (National Player of the Year Award), He was a Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2023 member. Was a Manning Award watch list selection. Salter is a two-time Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the week. He is a four-time CUSA Offensive Player of the Week. He is a 2023 CUSA First-Team All-Conference player and is the 2023 CUSA Most Valuable Player. He has a 15-2 career record as a starting quarterback, including 13-0 in 2023. Salter led the Flames to Liberty’s first-ever perfect regular season record. He has seven games passing for 225 or more yards, 11 games passing for two or more touchdowns, four 100-yard rushing games, and four games rushing for multiple touchdowns. He leads all quarterbacks in CUSA with 31 passing touchdowns. He is ranked second in CUSA with 12 rushing touchdowns. Ranks No. 1 in CUSA in passing efficiency.
His national rankings included No. 1 in passing yards per completion (16.98), No. 2 in rushing TDs by a quarterback (12), No. 3 in passing efficiency (182.2), and No. 3 in points responsible for (258).
