I was most worried about the Houston game when looking over the schedule preseason, especially after the way that game ended last season. That being said, they have certainly looked beatable, so long as we can play solid defense and rebound I like our chances.

Houston chokes the life out of you on defense. We'll be fortunate to score 60 on them. They only give up 48 points per games, and the most anyone has scored against them is 56. It'll take our best defensive performance of the season to have a chance IMO.

Houston has a good defense, but they haven't played anyone with a pulse other than Oregon and they're not looking to hot now. I'm probably wrong but I feel like we get to 70 points on them. If we get there that should be a win.

I don't think we can hold them to 70, and even if we do I don't see us scoring 71. Houston is a bad matchup for us. They will probably be the most physical team that we play all season. It seemed like the Roberts kid outrebounded our entire team last year, and he is back. Sasser is one of the better guards in the country. Jarace Walker is a full grown man. Plus, they have had this game circled since last year when Oats clowned Sampson after the game. I hope you're right and I'm wrong, but I'm really not looking forward to this game at all.

While Houston may be a bad matchup I doubt it will be as bad of a matchup as UConn turned out to be. At least I hope it won't be. UConn matched our length on the wings and was more physical inside. Top that off with an offense that could shoot outside better than we do and guards that were always half a step ahead of us on their end and we just couldn't handle them. The difference being UConn being willing and able to play fast and shoot quick when the shot was there. Houston is all about half court unless they are handed a run out dunk.

That being said if there is a such thing as a circled game in college basketball this one would be it. They are 100% sure they had a win stolen from them in T-Town on a 50/50 call around the rim and most of that team is back. They'll play angry. We just have to not fold and match them well enough the officials have to be whistle happy to keep it from being a brawl. If they beat us by 10 it will feel like a mauling because the score will probably be something like 65-55 with a dozen or more players in foul trouble or fouled out.

Houston relies heavily on their defense and they play it very well. Oregon scored the most points on the Cougars with 56. We better bring our A Game.

I don't see the bad matchup, Walker will draw help but not Sasser. I think our D is pretty good too.

I just hope the team doesn't cede the game before they play. Go out, give it your best shot, and play as one, then let the chips fall where they may. Q needs to play within himself and most importantly, within a team concept. Limit senseless TOs and fouls etc....

If you’re a gambling man, I’ll take the over on us scoring over 60 points. Let me know.

Houston is an offensively challenged team at times this year. I definitely think UCONN is likely the most physical team we will play this year. Houston is great, no doubt, but it’s basically the same team as last season and last years team scored on them easily. This will be a very good game.

I work too hard for my money to risk it on things over which I have no control. We would be the first team this year to reach 60 against them. I hope like heck that we do.

They beat Kent St 49-44. Kent St has actually been impressive, but I think Houston is going to have a harder time scoring on us than we will on them.

They have had a couple of games where they struggled offensively, but they have also scored 81 or more points in 5 of their 8 games. We have hit that mark 4 times in our 8 contests, but only 3 times in regulation. We didn't exceed 80 points until overtime against North Carolina. I also think that Houston is the best defensive team in the country. We'll have to play far better than we have in any game thus far to beat them IMO.

That is true. But their schedule has also been notably horrible. Northern Colorado, St. Joseph’s, Oral Robert’s, Kent St., Texas Southern and Norfolk St

I get what you’re saying, but Kent State did beat South Dakota State worse than we did. They also led Gonzaga for much of the game last night. We haven’t exactly played a murderers row. North Carolina and Michigan State are big names, but both are reeling right now. UConn is probably a top 5 team. South Dakota State was good last year, but they have already lost 6 games. The rest of our schedule to this point is meh. We’ll know a lot more about our team after the Houston game.

Yep all fair points. It looks like Kent St is actually legit. I didn’t watch any of the S Dakota St game against them but I’d wager S Dakota St hasn’t made every single contested mid range jumper they threw up there in many contests this season. That was borderline bizarre.

They will run us off the 3-point line. Gonna have to go to the basket and as you said play tough defense and rebound on both ends of the floor.

Houston held Alabama to only 18 three point attempts last season, but Alabama dominated the paint and FT line. Alabama is also more athletic inside then they were last season with Clowney, Miller, and a better Bediako. That’s where the game will be won. Can the young front court guys handle the physicality

Your prediction was on point!
