TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama held its final open practice of spring camp Tuesday afternoon as the Crimson Tide have completed all but one practice before the annual A-Day game. Reporters were given about 20 minutes to view practice inside the indoor facility.
Here's a few quick notes from practice.
- Linebacker Jihaad Campbell was wearing the black jersey during practice, and was walking around with a noticeable limp. However, his condition appeared to be minor as he continued to stay working on the exercise bike throughout the viewing period.
- The quarterbacks were in the same rotation as usual. Jalen Milroe took the first reps, followed by Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan, and Austin Mack.
- The running backs were featured in a lot of passing drills, and were either short routes to the flats or crossing routes over the middle. Justice Haynes led the backs for the first reps, followed by Jam Miller, Richard Young, and Daniel Hill.
- For the receivers, they worked on their release off the line, along with a few footwork drills as well. Jaren Hamilton led the group, followed by Kobe Prentice, Germie Bernard, Kendrick Law, Emmanual Henderson Jr, Cole Adams, Bubba Hampton, and Caleb Odom.
- During the viewing period, they weren't spread out for a first team offense, so there was no specific wideouts vs. slot position differential.
- The tight end rotation was roughly the same as well in their own receiving drills downfield. CJ Dippre led the unit (no longer wearing the black jersey), followed by Josh Cuevas, Robbie Ouzts, Ty Lockwood, and Danny Lewis Jr.
- On the defensive side of the ball, the safeties got a lot of work in one on one coverage against receivers, and a little bit of work on the blitz as well. In the drills, Malachi Moore led the unit, followed by Bray Hubbard, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr, Keon Sabb, and Peyton Woodyard
- When the defense lined up in what appeared to be a first team unit, without defensive lineman, it lined up as follows:
CB: Devonta Smith
CB: Domani Jackson
S: Zabien Brown (rotated with Mbakwe)
S: Keon Sabb
STAR: Malachi Moore
OLB: Justin Jefferson (Likely in place for Campbell)
MLB: Deontae Lawson
OLB: Quandarrius Robinson
- During secondary specific coverage drills, one safety and one corner went at a time.
Malachi Moore and Keon Sabb were the first group and Bray Hubbard and Peyton Woodyard were the second.
- For the inside linebackers, Deontae Lawson and Jeremiah Alexander led the crew that was working on the pass rush.
- I was also not able to see Parker Brailsford present at practice either. Still unsure about his return
