Petty picked up by Pelicans G League team

Guard John Petty, who was not selected in last month’s NBA draft, will participate in camp with the NBA G-League’s Birmingham Squadron, his former coach Nate Oats said.

“Petty will be playing in the New Orleans G-League team, too,” Oats said during his radio show Thursday night. “He’s in camp with them and he’ll be with their G-League team.”

Glad to see John with the Pelicans G-League team. Detroit was loaded with young guards. Petty has a quicker path to the NBA with the Pelicans. Looks like Herb will start off with the big club since they signed two other guys to 2 way contracts. Got to get down to Birmingham to check out JP and the newly refurbished BJCC.
