I’ve been told by a couple of sources to keep an eye on Wes Neighbors as a possible candidate for Alabama’s current coaching opening. He was hired as Ole Miss’ safeties coach last month after coaching safeties at Maryland (2022), Louisiana-Lafayette (2021), South Florida (2020) and Florida Atlantic (2018-19).
Neighbors is an Alabama alum. He served as a student assistant in 2011-12 before becoming a defensive intern the following year. He spent the 2014 season as a graduate assistant before being hired as an analyst from 2015-17.
I’ve been told there are some contractual issues that could make Neighbors’ return to Alabama difficult. I’m still trying to find out more about those at the moment. To my understanding, there is interest from both him and Alabama about him joining the staff.
