"Heard about Wolford being a guy of interest for Alabama early yesterday and it moved quicker than I expected it to. He apparently met with Bama over the weekend and had already been recruiting down that way so it worked out.

For Alabama, it's a home run hire. Think about that. It's a testament to how much the perception of Kentucky has changed. Alabama fans are very excited about this hire because everybody knows Kentucky has great offensive lines.

Wolford is a part of that Big Blue Wall tradition now. Thought he did a very good job in his first year on the job. He's a very different guy than Schlarman. As intense as a coach is going to get. Schlarman was super intense and a passionate teacher too but they were just different.

Here is another big reason I think Alabama is appealing: Wolford is a Youngstown guy, but he really connects with guys from the South. That's who he recruited at South Carolina and that's who he tended to target at Kentucky. Under Schlarman, UK was really going after KY and OH offensive linemen and if I had to guess I would guess that Kentucky's next o-line coach does more targeting/recruiting of KY/OH linemen because they will find it easier to recruit those guys and had plenty of success with them.

Kentucky is obviously still recruiting o-linemen in the short term. This will impact their pursuit of Jalen Farmer, former Florida commitment, as well as UK's work in the transfer portal which is essential for next season with no tackle experience returning."
