First let me say I do not not want Braxton Miller. It has nothing to do with his athletic ability, character, race, or anything else like that. What It has to do with Is chemistry. We saw It last year with Blake Sims and Jake Coker. Yes there Is a certain amount of chemistry that has to be developed on the field, but I believe the most Important kind Is developed off the field.
Who has been here? Who has gone through all these off season work outs with me? Who have I had classes with, partied with, laughed and cried with for the last three years? Who ever the starting QB Is, you have to trust the guy. When you get to the line and he calls a check, you have to believe the guy. OK, I was going to get the ball, but now I'm not, and I have to pick up this LB. I was going to block this guy but now I have to do this. I was going to run this route, but now I have to do this instead.
When you are down by 4 with 3 minutes left and got the ball on your own 5, and he looks at you and says, lets go do it, you have to believe in the guy! Do I? Sure, because we have been together a long time and he has always been there for me. Had my back 2 years ago at the bar. Was there when I broke up with my gal friend. He was there when I went through all the bad times, he went through some of them with me. So when It's 4th and 8 from your own 20 and he says, lets go get It...........well hell yea, lets get It!
I believe that's why Blake won the job last year. He had the trust of his teammates and Jake had not developed that yet. I think that was one of the problems In 2013. AJ was a great QB and was probably doing all the right things. But there was an age discrepancy there. The younger guys had just not been there and went through it with AJ and the older guys. There was too big of a division on the team. True freshman don't hang out with 5th year seniors. They are In two different stages of their lives.
I just think there Is way more that goes Into the game than just what happens out on the field. These are just my thoughts, feel free to bash away.
