Filling time until the SEC tournament gets here: Right at this moment: Who leaves one
way or the other after this year?. And who is your starting five and first two off the bench
for next year? Does Cooper go pro for Auburn?

Not Harper but I love the conversation so I'll add my .02.
Gone: Petty, Herb, Reese, and Rojas
Tossup: Bruner is the only Sr. I think Oats would want back if he decides he isn't finished playing basketball. Reese and Rojas, though they have heart can be replaced easily via transfer portal if need be.

Starting 5: JQ, Shack, Miles, Ambrose, Tchikou.
First two off the bench: JD and Ellis

And Cooper is gone. No way they sign him if they tell him beforehand about the selfimposed lost season ban and there is no guarantee the NCAA accepts it.

I hope Cooper is gone. If he returns, they will be very very good.

JD, Primo, Shack, Gary and Tchikou.
JQ, Ellis and Ambrose off the bench.

Cooper definitely goes pro, but Auburn will be la little better with a year experience and good recruits

this is mine except to switch Gary and ellis. Ellis is every bit of the player herb is and gets better every time he's out there gaining more time on the court. Great defense, much better potential on offense.

Does Ellis ever get to the rim? Seems like the bulk of his contribution this season comes from 3 point land. Maybe I am wrong.

If Cooper doesn’t go pro, Auburn could be really really good next year. I hope he goes pro...

did Primo die?

Seems like it. Kid is going to be good and really needs this off-season to develop his game and get stronger. I am hoping that by the end of the season Q has done enough that it won't be a foregone conclusion that JD steals his job next season. No reason to think Shack will start the year on the bench so I filled out the roster with a little more size. Who knows.

I'm really hoping we have enough depth for JD and Q to play at the same time.

Oats better sign some Big Guys that can run and play physical down low. Not being Physical and not finishing at the basket will be our down fall in the Tournament.

I’m not sure how many of those guys we will ever have. I think he’s more interested in guards that can put it on the floor and and finish at the basket than he is bigs that can finish at the basket. I wonder Oats could create a big man, how close would Bruner be to that guy?

The last info I saw indicates Frenchy has added pounds and muscle while rehabbing!

I think down the road Oats has to develop or recruit some Big guys that can run and bang on the boards. As for the Tournament it will be very interesting if we eventually play some of the upper level Big 10 teams that can run and play extremely Physical in the paint. We are more Finess oriented.

I don’t disagree. I just don’t know if Oats will go that route. That’s not a better 3 than throwing it to a post player that commands a double and he kicks it out for the inside out 3.

Leaving:
Petty
Herb
Bruner
Reese
Rojas (?) Just depends

Wayyyy too early starting 5:
JD Davison (It’s really tough to say him over JQ, but I’ll give him the edge right now. All depends how he transitions)
Jaden Shackelford
Keon Ellis/Primo (I’d give the edge to Ellis)
Alex Tchikou
Langston Wilson

that’s just what I think based on what I’ve seen from guys and how I view them.

Yes Cooper SHOULD go pro. If he does, then Scoota Henderson will reclassify so there’s no much of a drop off either way. Auburn will be top 4 in the SEC next season

Went and watched JD in person yesterday. They lost to a good Midfield team and he had 45 and 13. He is just relentless attacking the rim on the dribble.

Oats will require him to be relentless on D too. He doesn’t play a lick of defense.

I think our rebounding will be much better with Wilson and Tchikou.
I like the guard rotation of Q, Shack and JD. with Ellis and Primo splitting time at the 3.
Gary, Hylton and Rojas can play 3,4 or5.

Where's Primo??????

He’s a solid defender. Plays above the rim and can protect the rim as well. On ball defense could use improvement but rarely are kids good on ball defenders right out of high school
He either gets blown by or let’s people go by and tries to knock the ball out from behind. You can say he has the ability to defend. But he's not a solid defender.

Like I said, he needs improvement with on ball defense, but that’s every high school player. He is obviously bored with his level of play in high school and will be more engaged in college. He will have to be. I’ve seen enough of him when he’s engaged in defending to know he’s a solid defender. Plus he’s probably the only guard in America than can pin the ball above the square on a layup

You know more than me about it all. I’m not arguing that. But I’ve watched him play in some big high school games where he dwarfs the competition. It’s not about the ability to defend. How about the desire to defend when your teams season is on the line? If that’s boring, I don’t know what to say. Surely you can be engaged at that moment.
