Now that basketball is over, I have the luxury of coaching soccer. So, I was at a tournament all day in Huntsville yesterday and was unable to watch the game live. I kept up with the score and thought it was over being up 4 with 30 seconds left. Next thing I know, itās tied up and then lost at the buzzer. Just inexcusable.
I watched the game after the fact, and I was very very pleased with how Alabama played all game. They outplayed Tennessee the entire way, except the last 30 seconds. Nate shouldāve 100% used a timeout on the 5 second call and not subbed his bigs out so fast, so that oneās on him. However, Stevenson not boxing out was the key play of the game as it wouldnāt have mattered if he would have. Also, the end of the first half was a huge disaster that loomed large. The shot was just a lucky shot, but shouldnāt have come to that.
Alabama has to figure out how to close halves/games as itās been a struggle for them all season. Itās like they are the finish line and try to coast, and it backfired today. Theyāve gotten off to better starts now, but finishing close games continues to be a struggle.
Grand scheme of things, this game doesnāt hurt with a loss, itās moreso how it happened. Just canāt let it snowball after this.
