Reading the thread about AJ I noticed a couple of comments hoping he could do really well in the pros so it would help us recruit an elite QB. I'm not so sure that an elite QB would necessarly be a good fit for Bama. If we got the #1 QB how hard would it be to recruit another QB next year, knowing he would be playing behind someone for 3 years? So backups are less talented, and should he go down we would be in trouble.
An elite QB could be a pre-madonna that gets little respect from his O line and that won't work. We could recruit the best receivers but even an elite QB needs a little time to throw. I'm an old fart and it's JMO but I like it having 4 or 5 guys with above average talent competing every day to be our QB.
I believe we have at least 3 that can be winning college QBs.
