They really need to either move up to get to that #1 or #2 two seed, or drop to that first three seed. You do not want to be in the same region with Gonzaga or Baylor. I would much rather be in the region with OSU or Michigan.

Truth be told, that Michigan team was playing almost as well as Baylor and Gonzaga before COVID stopped their season. The layoff hopefully hurt them.

I agree with your thought process, but if we get a #2 seed and make it to the elite eight, I’ll be glad to play whoever they put on the court with us.

Splitting hairs here GOAT, but ESPN says that the 2 line from the committee goes Illinois, Villanova, Bama and Houston. One spot difference, but it obviously could make a difference.

Yeah, it would be great to get out of the region with either one of the two top overall seeds. I'll be pulling for some Nova and Illinois losses in the coming weeks.

The Zags have been destroying teams. I know they play in a terrible league but no one is coming close to them. I do think Baylor is the best team in the country; I would much rather play the Zags over them.

I think Bama is a sweet sixteen team and I’m hoping for more. Elite 8 would only be the second time and final four would set a complete new standard. Bama has the tools if they can get healthy and hot at the same time.

A regular season SEC championship followed by a SEC tourney Championship would ring to the old Wimp Plaid Palace days. I would love just that.

I hate to say it but I believe we are more of a 3-4 caliber seed. We didn’t prove ourselves against Oklahoma or Missouri.

While I agree that the games against OU and Mizzou are pretty good indicators of what we are as a tournament seed, I'll take the 2 seed all day even if they get it by default.
15 seeds win 5.7% of the time.
14 seeds it nearly triples to 15%.
13 seeds win 20% of the time.

Maybe I am crazy but Baylor looks like they run a similar style as Bama except they run it better and have a better team. Other than that I like our chances.

I think this team can play with any team on any given night. I think more teams will dread planning for Bama than any other team this year.

I'll be happy to get anything better than a 4 seed. That will be the best we've had since Gottfried's team choked away a round two game against Kent St. Realistically I'll be happy with anything that isn't an 8 or worse seed. Seems when we've snuck into the tournament its been at that 8-9 game or 7-10 game and we aren't ready for a dogfight in the first game.

Splitting hairs on 2 or 3 or 4 seed really means we're assuming we can ride into an elite 8 game without much of a worry.


Given how weird this season has been and the luck Bama basketball has we'll get that 2 seed we want and it will be the 2 seed opposite a 1 seed team other than Gonzaga or Baylor. Then our second round game will be against a Duke or UNC type that has struggled all year but got it rolling in late Feb through a conference tournament championship.
