He’s a solid scoring guard who will likely need a year to develop, which is fine bc Alabama will be good at the guard position next year. He’s small, but he’s quick and can really score.
Big teams have had a lot of success by mixing the one and done talent with 3rd and 4th year guys who have stuck around and developed. I’m fine with us taking a guy who can contribute for multiple years, especially after losing out on top targets.
Fans need to lose anxiety over "stars". Especially at this stage. RJ Johnson is a good get for Alabama, a kid with solid skills, great upside and time to develop even more.
JD Notae is a great example of what an unrated player can develop into over time. Happy for Oats and Johnson. I can't wait to see what kind of player he develops into once he transfers out of Alabama.
