JMO but I think Oats 12M+ buyout is going to make it particularly difficult for another suitor at this time. North Carolina's athletics budget has been ravaged by Covid. They'll get someone great, I just doubt it's Oats. Aside from the money, I also truly think Oats is really happy at Bama and has obviously built a monster in a hurry and wants to unleash it starting this November.

Not sure I believe that. Oats has not done enough yet to warrant that kind of consideration.
UNC loves to keep it “ in the family”.

Oats is probably down the list on these type jobs right now but it’s possible. Another year or two and he might be THE guy for all of these blue blood openings. I’m hoping he really wants to stay and our AD really wants him to stay. I also believe if Oats left, Byrne would make another good hire.

There are only a handful of coaches in America that would not take the UNC job. That is the reason UNC is not going to pay a $12,000,000 buyout to anyone. If I am in the market for a new coach, sorry Sister Jean, but I am making a trip to Chicago.

I just think at 70, he thinks its time. 33 years as HC. I dont think there is more to it than that in my opinion
