Alabama footballā€™s Ryan Williams was named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-America Team, the group announced Tuesday.


The accolade is Williamsā€™ fifth All-America recognition, adding to his Freshman All-America honors from On3, Pro Football Focus and 247Sports, along with a second team All-America nod from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). The first-year standout also earned first team All-Southeastern Conference and Freshman All-SEC accolades by the league coaches in addition to being named a second-teamer on the league list from the Associated Press.

  • Emerged as a dynamic threat each time he touched the ball during his debut season
  • Led Alabama in receiving yards (865) and receiving touchdowns (8) while finishing second in receptions (48)
  • His eight receiving touchdowns were second-most in the SEC and tied for second-most among freshman wideouts in Division I
  • Also contributed 48 rushing yards on four attempts with two touchdowns
  • Added 10 punts returns for 120 yards to go with two kickoff returns for a combined 14 yards
