Sideline Signs at Scrimmage?

I've been hearing that we were using signs from the sidelines to communicate offensive plays to the huddle in the last scrimmage? (i.e. like Auburn)

I hate the idea we would be doing this, can anyone confirm if this is true? It's cheesy and something I always associate with Gus and the Barn, but if it is true and it actually helps I guess I'll learn to live with it.
