As much as I love Bruner, I dont know if we can afford to start him and keep
him in, until the first media timeout as we go forward in the tournament.
JQ didnt get in until seven minutes were gone on Sunday. Once we get
past the first round I dont think we can afford to fall behind by alot.
CNO sure knows what he is doing and should be Coach of Year,
But just a thought. Sure am enjoying being talked about as March
Madness begins. Love the attitude of these guys.

Great post. Agree on both counts. If CNO is bent on Q coming off the bench that’s fine... but he needs to be in no later than 120 seconds into the game.

I posted in another thread some season stats on Iona. While their "bigs" are pretty tall they are also both freshmen I believe. They also have a sixth man who logs a lot of minutes and comes off of the bench that adds some experience. If they stick with their young frontcourt they may struggle with balancing defending the lane and guarding their man from behind the arc. However, if I am Pitino I may let Bama's bigs flog 37 threes if they want to.

i doubt oats changes any thing he is doing now. it has worked and most coaches are a little superstious.

i agree we need Q in the came as soon as posible though. also need bruner out as soon as possible.

Agree... if we can't get a dead ball waste a 30 second time out and get that man his minutes. He's been great off the bounce.

Changing things right now may not be such a good idea. The team has a chemistry during a season and if you change things too much it can screw with that chemistry. I think that's why you see Quinerly continuing to come of the bench. I do agree that Bruner is not at 100% and could be a liability on defense but he is good for a couple of 3's and rebounds so there is value in him playing.

Would you hold Bruner out in hopes he can heal up a little more? Not sure if we need him in this game but will as we go deeper in the tourney.

I believe CNO starts him and plays limited minutes although nowhere 100%, so that Bruner can stay somewhat active as he progresses in his recovery.

That way Bruner doesn't start from scratch if he had been completely held out. The LSU game was extremely difficult as Bruner although playing limited minutes, he had played in three back-to-back-to-back games.
