Alabama was unable to travel to Texas today as originally planned. The status of the game will be reevaluated tomorrow

Bama needed to play this one and Vandy to help solidify that 3.5 game lead.

Bama got Arky and Miss St on road after that and the barn at home.

I don't see any way they play this game. Oats was on with Scott Van Pelt the other night and said they were having a hard time finding pilots to fly them there. I've got several co-workers in Texas who say things are bad. Dealing with rolling blackouts, etc.

State of Texas can't even run it's own power grid. No way we play them this week. They should come visit T-Town for a whoopin'. Didn't LSU have to move a football game to UK or somewhere due to weather this fall?

With statewide power outages and some areas without water, I can't see how it would make sense to travel to Texas right now for a sports related event. Where would the team eat and sleep? Does the campus have power? How about the airport? Have the roads been cleared?

Plus, their gym is currently being used as a heated facility for people to stay without power. We gonna kick them out for a basketball game?

I don’t understand why they didn’t just get out of there when they could. We could have played the game in Tuscaloosa. And they could have just stayed in Tuscaloosa. They could have practiced in Tuscaloosa. And then traveled to their next game when it was time. Beats sitting in Texas with no power, can’t play, can’t practice, etc. Especially since they have played since 1-30.

I believe postponing the game is great for us. Play this on the last Saturday of the season. We get a much needed week of rest this week and Bruner and Gary should be back by then to get some game work before SEC Championship. Still about a week between this last regular season game and start of SEC tournament.

The gym at College Station is being used as a warming station, so it cannot be used for basketball. The game will not be played in College Station on Thursday. The Press Release from College Station says the gym is being used as a warming station until 12:00 noon tomorrow. I doubt the gym could be properly cleaned in an hour, so the teams could warm up.

The only way I see this game played this week is if the game is moved to Tuscaloosa, which presents another problem, in that how do you test the aTm players, that are in COVID protocol, without electricity.

There is a bigger problem on the horizon for the SEC. With the risk of COVID and placing a team that is slated for the NCAA tournament in COVID protocol, do you really take the chance of playing an SEC tournament and putting all of the teams in one location. If one team in the SEC tournament goes into COVID protocol, you could effectively eliminate every SEC team from the NCAA tournament. As I understand the situation, when the teams get to Indianapolis, the teams will be in a NBA type of bubble, so the NCAA tournament can be played, but will the NCAA delay the tournament two weeks to allow every team to enter the bubble? My guess is the NCAA will just declare forfeits if a team cannot participate.

You could allow teams to make up missed games in the extra week and/or schedule a couple of games, rather than risk one player coming down with COVID at the tournament. This would mean you might only lose one or two teams and not the entire league. My view is that playing the SEC Tournament is not smart.

Because that makes too much sense.

You present a good argument. Too bad they won't let sports figures be vaccinated yet, but with limited vaccine and the gravity of the situation, it's understandable.

I’m not sure Oats sees thing the same way.

I dont blame him. But there's not really a negative way to spin it. The worst case scenario is we lose 3 games and don't win the conference, but if we play poorly enough to lose the conference then what are the odds we were gonna win today anyways? Best case scenario is the extra time gets herb healthy or healthier

I agree. I’d sit Herb Saturday too and just add to it. But Oats just seems to be pedal to the metal all the time about everything.
