the supposedly brushed Petty’s shorts. Why was that not called a kicked ball?
Good questionthe supposedly brushed Petty’s shorts. Why was that not called a kicked ball?
I was saying the exact same thing. I have seen a million times where the ball is accidentally dribbled off the defender’s foot and it's called a kick ball 99.9% of the time.the supposedly brushed Petty’s shorts. Why was that not called a kicked ball?
I think because it was called out of bounds. I don’t think you can review if it was kick ball if it was called something else after it. That is my guess.
Should’ve been called a kick. No question. Of course I don’t think they can change that after the review. But your point is right, he knew it was a kick before the replay. So why not call it?The official that called the ball out on UCLA was pointing to his foot, so he knew it was a kick before the replay review.
You have asked the million dollar question and rightfully so. Maybe some of our posters who are either active bb officials or former refs can answer that question.the supposedly brushed Petty’s shorts. Why was that not called a kicked ball?
If the defender moved his foot in an attempt to defend and stop the ball it would be called a kicked ball and blown dead. If his foot was planted as part of simply taking a step, and Petty dribbled the ball off of a planted foot, then it would not be a “kicked” ball and play on. I haven’t watched the replay to see exactly which one it was, but that is what I have always known. I think it was total BS to give the ball the UCLA since it was way too close to call. Should have stuck with the original call on the floor. You have asked the million dollar question and rightfully so. Not a kick of your foot is on the ground. Petty dribbled it off his foot. Foot never moved.Should’ve been called a kick. No question. Of course I don’t think they can change that after the review. But your point is right, he knew it was a kick before the replay. So why not call it?
ThisI’ve never known your shorts or jersey to be part of your body.
