1) Clemson
2) Alabama
3) Michigan
4) Washington
5) Louisville
6) Ohio St
7) Texas A&M
8) Wisconsin
9) Baylor
10) West Virginia
Teams outside of the top ten, looking in : Auburn, Nebraska, LSU, and Florida
Side Notes : Alabama) With a impressive performance against A&M, it was a
easy decision to move Bama to # 2 in my poll this week. If Hurts can just get a little
more consistent in the passing game, Alabama will become unstoppable, but for now
i have them at #2.
Clemson) This team continues to win but were Idle this past weekend. I feel this
Clemson team is better than the one from last year. They have 9 of their starters
back from 2015 and even though their defense lost 7 or 8 starters from last year,
they return a lot of rotational players that saw extensive playing time last year. So
this group hasn't missed a beat and even added stud Freshman Dexter lawrence
to their first team defense, and he has not disappointed.
Michigan) This team continues to get better and better each week and their defense
is playing lights out. But perhaps, the biggest improvement comes from their QB Wil-
ton Speights, who is not lighting it up, but has been good none the less. Michigan's run
-ning game is stellar and if Speights can continue to improve, sky is the limit for them.
Did i mention they probably have the best player in college football playing for them???
That would be Jabril Peppers and he even makes this team even tougher to defeat.
Texas A&M) I can't punish a team to much that just lost to Alabama on the road so i
have them at # 7 in my poll this week.A&M is still a very good and balanced team and
i believe they will prove that by going undefeated the rest of the regular season.
Louisville) This team seems to have recovered from the hangover from the Clemson
game and they rebounded back with a 54-14 pounding of NC ST. I think that the
real difference between this Cards team and last yrs, is the fact they are a little better
on defense and Lamar Jackson has improved in his passing game.
West Virginia) I know this team isn't the usual suspect in the top ten, but i am a
believer in them. The Mountaineer's defense, which has new nine starters this
season, is fast becoming the staple of this team and they have proved that by
shutting down explosive offenses like TCU and Texas Tech in the last couple of weeks
West Va has always had a great offense, but a good defense to match has made
them a very good and complete team
Ohio St) I know they were upset by Penn St, but i still believe by the end of the year,
they will be a team to be reckoned with. If they run the table the rest of the way, they
earn a spot in the 4 team playoffs. I believe this team will be much like the one that
lost to a poor Va tech team in 2014 but bounced back to win the title at the end. I
don't see Ohio St winning the title this time out, but i think they will at least have some-
thing to say about it.
Baylor) A very explosive team and much like West Virginia, they have gotten better on defense. Baylor will have a chance to prove just how much they improved when they
face West Va at the end of the year. This very well may decide the BIG 12!
