Something I've heard said about him even though I was too young to remember him.

That he could take his and beat yours, and he could take yours and beat his.

I think that was because he could take your players, figure out what their strengths are and put them in the best position to win.

You know who else has been like that throughout their career, Coach K. A man Oats ignorantly tried to call out for being scared to play last year. Instead of making a dumbass comment like that, maybe he should have been calling Coach K and begging him to teach him how to become an elite coach. Because right now he is so far from that it's laughable...

Bad loss? Yes. Overreaction from you? Yes. You make valid points in some of your posts, but I don’t understand what you want him to do. Hey, we won the sec last year and we were a few secs from an elite 8 and more than likely a final four. Should he scrap his whole playbook and philosophy? Should he do what Avery did when he said he was going to play fast?

For better or worse, I like how we play. Recruits like how we play. Fans like how we play. Bama played great at the beginning of the year. I think we can get it rolling again. I may be wrong, but I don’t get the hate for our Coach.

I want him to be able to coach basketball, not a system. Coach his current team, not a system. In three years at Bama he's had two rather pedestrian seasons because his players on his team does not fit his system. He's making the kind of money that he is expected to figure it out and win at a higher clip than he is.

You seem to be a great basketball fan, but can you honestly say you like how this team has played since the Houston game? Night in and night out we have more turnovers than a pastry shop, play some of the worst defense that I’ve ever seen, and lay more bricks than any brick mason I’ve ever seen. I love Bama basketball, but this is the most frustrating team I’ve tried to watch in my over 50 years of following Tide hoops.

I hate how we play. Recruits are looking at us and probably questioning their decisions. CNO had a fantastic season last year. He had 2 NBA players and a lot of experience on that team…that helped tremendously. Year 1 was not pretty. Maybe we can turn it around and finish the season closer to how we started. But I can tell when guys have lost confidence and when there are some bad vibes on a team…all you have to do is pay attention to players body language. Who knows it could be NIL deals or some other infectious problem but for sure something is up and unless things change this season could end up being a disaster.

I’ve been thinking for awhile that it’s a good thing that those guys have already signed. If they hadn’t I’m not sure they would sign now after watching this team. It would certainly give me pause if I were a prospect, and I’m a Bama lifer.

I think this team has some attitude problems, personally, and I look for some guys to get their heads right or be shown the door come summer. It ain't all coaching.

Eventually Oats has to take some blame. I’ve always been an Oats fan. But he ALWAYS publicly blamed the players. Have you ever heard Saban blame the players over and over and over?

Sounds like he came very close to calling out some players for being more worried about themselves.

Something isn't right with this team right now and I don't think Oats knows what to do about it if the team can't sort it out themselves. I don't know if it's attitude or confidence or something worse but something isn't right and hasn't been since the trip to Memphis.

I do think there is a chemistry issue with this team and possibly some players who don't get along. The following is a quote from Oats after the game: I’ve gotta figure out how to put the right guys on the floor that care about their teammates that are gonna play hard for them. I’ve obviously not done a great job figuring out how to do that so far this year.”

He’s been saying that all year. I’m around high school ball all year long. So many high school coaches blame effort, when in fact the kids are just in bad spots or don’t know what they are doing. These guys should know what they are doing. I’m just thinking adjustments need to be made. This personnel isn’t the same as last year so how can the system be the exact same? When the kids aren’t put in spots to succeed, sometimes it looks like they aren’t playing hard. But sometimes they just can’t do what they are being asked to do. Maybe Bama should adjust…

I think Oats is a great coach. I also thinl hes got a couple players that could give a ish less if they win as long as the make enough 1 on 1 film to look good to scouts.

This team lacks leadership. Last year we had two seniors that were from Alabama and wanted to win FOR Alabama. This team has its eyes on the next level. No togetherness. Ellis and JD and Rojas only guys i see give consistent effort. Shack n Q for sure been reading the press clipping in the off season too much.

Oats needs to quit babying these guys. Last year he got away with it because Petty and Jones did the accountability holding themselves. If Oats is going to recruit at this level hes gotta get these guys to play to win instead of play to make money...

He is probably right about certain players being more for themselves than they are the team. However, his “blue collar” analytics don’t reflect how his team has been coached to achieve the positive results he is always talking about. Our defensive principals are as deficient as our offense is post our primary break(which isn’t worth a poop either). I hope he can right the ship but nothing about this team gives me much hope for a turnaround. CNO reminds me a lot of Paul Westphal except that CPW was a better coach.

He might be right about that. But at this point, his job is to get them to buy in or sit them. Then whoever he has that is willing to do things right, make the system fit them. I don’t like our defensive style. We gamble too much. We get beat off the dribble too easy. The system has to fit the players.

This team =

root issue - leadership. There is none. Need it from Keon, Shack, Quinerly. Keon just doesn’t have demeanor for it, Quinerly loves to lead when he’s getting buckets and only when he’s getting buckets will he play defense, and shack spent the summer in the portal and barely cares on defense… root of the problem right there

incomplete roster - poor depth, don’t have what we need from the 4 spot, and missing a couple shooters. This was always the case but something we have enough talent to overcome to a degree. Not a top 2 seed type team but a team that doesn’t lose to Georgia….

lack of adjustment from coach. I Love coach and am all in on what he’s doing here but at some point you have to make some adjustments to fit this group. Use timeouts to help them along in game. Call more half court sets, change up the D, extend it out see how we respond etc etc.

This is far from an overreaction. When this team is winning, it's all Nate Oats, when the are losing, it's the players. These are Nate Oats guys, which is exactly what many here was wishing could happen sooner. How many posts did we read over the last two season of how posters couldn't wait for CAJ recruits to leave?

I don't think this team has a bunch of players with an attitude problem, I am not seeing poor attitude out there. I am seeing poor execution, poor effort, and a poorly designed system for the skillset of the players on this team. All of that is coaching IMO. Even if some of the players have "attitude problems,' it's on the coaching staff to get it fixed.

Poor effort and poor attitude go hand in hand. A good attitude gives effort. If you aren’t trying then something ain’t right with your attitude. Every game is huge for us and we do not get it

when it’s good it’s players and when it’s bad it’s coaching isn’t a true statement either. There is blame and credit for both no matter what.

Can we get an English translation of that? That's about the most incoherent quote I've ever seen from a coach. If that's an indication of the way he communicates with the team then we may have found our problem. He never even finished a thought without rambling on the next one.

I will fill it in. "When you're so concerned with the wrong stuff in some cases their "Hair style", I think we had some guys worried about "Looking Pretty", I think you, you're just not playing the hard, aggressive downhill.

I love that all of you care so much about Bama basketball. I think we have some really great die hard fans, and I am glad we all are on here together. I don’t agree with most of your opinions on the team at the moment, though. I try to find the good and wear my crimson glasses all day. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t pissed off that we lost to GA. I think there are problems on the leadership side, but I think that can be fixed.

Last year, we had some auburn douche saying we had racism issues in the locker room and Rojas and Petty sat. Magically, we didn’t lose many games after that. Maybe he needs to sit some players. I am not doubting him. The guy can coach and he has had some huge wins this year. I expect to see some more.
