Alabama played to potential tonight and you see where all the hype came from. This team doesn’t have any egos, they all impact the game in positive ways, and do whatever it takes to win.

Tonight was the Brandon Miller breakout game. He is a generational talent for Alabama and he showed why tonight. Being 6’9 and hitting 7 threes, while playing great defense will get him drafted top 10-15 in the NBA Draft. He has a +/- of 100 through 4 games. He makes winning plays every single game.

The 3 PG lineup of JQ, Bradley, and Sears is so fun to watch. Oats loved playing 3 PGs in Buffalo and it was very effective there, and it showed to be effective tonight. It’s an elite scoring lineup and they’re able to spread it out and let each of the PGs go to work. Look for that lineup more as the season moves on.

Alabama shot 21/46 from 3 and 12/19 from inside the arc tonight. I said earlier this year to expect 10 threes made on average, but if they hit close to 20 they’re near impossible to beat. The reason being that this team is so elite defensively and those threes are killers for the opposing team. Alabama only allowed 23 in the second half after allowing 39 in the first half. Tonight was the get right game for Nimari Burnett as he scored 18 on 5/6 shooting from 3.

This team is legit.

What sticks out the most to me about this year's team vs previous Oats coached teams is rebounding. Also, defense is much improved from last year. Rebounding and good defense breeds more possessions on offense. On top of all that the athletic ability of almost every player is amazing. Michigan State will certainly bring the defense so we will see where we stand after that game. Hopefully the youth of this team doesn't hurt us. Loving watching this team.

Defense is pointless if you don’t have everyone buy-in. This year you can tell they have.

What's scary good (for us anyway) is that as good as they played last night, they will get better. Last night they played as a team on both ends of the floor. They had 13 TOs and still scored 104 points...amazing! Jville State is a pretty good team so it wasn't like Bama looked good against a soup can.

If we shoot the ball close to as well as last night, and keep our turnovers in check, we can play with anybody, and that is all you can ask for. This teams length is really a sight to behold.

I think it's too early in the year to have rising expectations. It's always good to see how we do against the Gonzagas and Michigan States of the world because it builds experience. Let's see how they respond in conference play. Consistency is the key.

Michigan St will tell everyone where this team resides. Early schedule ( first 4 games) tells us very little.

We have 3 freshmen playing lots of minutes. While they did great with these first 4 teams, expect some of it to fade. I still think this team will play well. Michigan State is elite and this would not be a bad loss. It would also springboard this team into the season if we win.

Rebounding effort has been surprising, but the most appreciated change on this team is attitude. They look like they are having fun and all working together. We really loss that quality the second half of last year. Fun for the team and for the fans!

...add to that, defensive intensity for 40 minutes.
