In a long season, an elite team will always hit a lull at some point. You just have to prevent it from becoming a trend and extending for a long period of time. Alabama had a brief two game lull where they squeaked by Miss St at home and got blown out by Oklahoma on the road. Safe to say that was the end of that.

Alabama rolled to a 101-44 victory in what was the largest margin of victory over an SEC team in program history. The intensity on both ends resembled early January Alabama that got them to rise into the top 5. Needless to say the message was well received and that loss got the team’s attention.

If you could believe it, Alabama got off to a rough start down 5-0 in the first 3 minutes. After that it was all Bama. Brandon Miller was a human highlight reel scoring 22 points and two insane highlight dunks. Nimari Burnett had his breakout game with 16 points on 4/7 from 3 and great perimeter defense. Rylan Griffen got extended minutes and came through with 12 points and everyone’s favorite punching bag Charles Bediako had a big game scoring 10 points and great post defense. Alabama shot 59% from the field and 46% from 3 (19/41).

The defensive end may have been the most impressive part to me. Everything was pressured and contested for Vandy and nothing came easy. Vandy shot 16/64, including 3/30 from 3 and 15 turnovers. Alabama had 27 points off turnovers and outscored Vandy 32-4 in the paint.

This was a get right game for Alabama and boy did they get right. Lets see if they can sustain some of this momentum next game against LSU on the road on Saturday

The Miss State win is beginning to look better. They are playing much better now and I for one am glad we do not have to play them again in the regular season.
Agreed. MISS ST had a lot to do with our struggle to win and yes, they are playing better now.

Makes one wonder how bad the mental funk or over confidence really was in Norman Saturday.
