It’s always an adventure with Alabama basketball. Today was no different. Alabama started out on a 12-5 run with two walk ons and 3 seniors. When the regulars came in it was more of the same hitting 9 total 3’s in the first half leading 50-27.

The second half South Carolina went on a run to cut the lead to 6 thanks to Alabama starting 1-11 from the field, but Alabama woke up and extended that lead back to 23 in 5 minutes after they cut it to 6 and ultimately winning 90-71.

Alabama hit 13/33 from 3 and 19/23 from the FT line. Alabama has been exceptional from the FT line this season and it’s paid dividends in multiple games. Shackelford scored 21 and JQ had 20 leading the way for the talented backcourt. Bediako had 11 points and JD finished in double figures once again with 10.

I thought the defense was the difference tonight. The first half really set the tone and really reminded me of last years team draining threes and playing suffocating defense. This team is capable, but go into lulls for a period of time that lets teams get back into it.

Alabama stays home to face Texas A&M in their final home game of the season before traveling to LSU to end regular season play next Saturday.

Maybe the walk ons set the defensive tone today.
There were times it looked like some of South Carolina’s players were just absolutely gassed.
If this wasn’t JD’s best all around game, I don’t remember it.
Good day overall.

JD looked like he had worked with Keon on pressuring the dribbler today lol. Maybe he is taking some notes

Hey Harp-with final 4 in High School starting next week, I was interested in how ur team did this year?

Except for the first few minutes of the 2nd half, the defense was excellent. It was great seeing the subs and scrubs set the tone to start the game. The team still needs to develop a killer instinct and not let teams back in the game, which almost cost us until the flame was relit. Anyway, congrats to the fellas for getting the job done in fine fashion.

We played really well other than first 6ish minutes if the 2nd half. It’s so obvious when this team relaxes. We go from good to suck in a hurry.

Quinerly and Ellis are really starting to show confidence in their shots again and that could be a huge development for us in the postseason
Hate to beat a dead horse, but if Oats calls a timeout in the middle of the SC run to start the 2nd half, the lead may not drop to single digits.

I kill oats for his lack of timeout usage. Drives me insane. However, in this particular instance, we had the long ass TV timeout when they had gotten within 14-15. Came out of that still slipped and they got to about 10 and he actually did use a timeout, then we actually got the next bucket, they got it down a little closer before we went off. I don’t necessarily know what else to do. Maybe call one 30 seconds into the half when it was clear we were lax

This is exactly right.
