I was unable to watch the Clemson game live as I was out of town and it was on a strange ACC Network, but I was able to watch the replay.

Alabama has played two teams that are ranked top 20 in defensive efficiency (Stanford and Clemson) and were shut down. They’re problem is there’s no flow to the offense and it seems to be dribble and pass until someone is ready to shoot. Alabama is at their best when they are moving, screening, and cutting to get someone open in the corner or the wing.

Offensively they shot the worst I’ve seen them under Nate Oats. 3-22 from 3, even though 18-20 from the FT was nice to see. Jaden Shackelford is starting to press way too much and it is killing the team, not to mention he’s a liability defensively. He should specifically be a catch and shoot guy and should only dribble once at the most. He’s at his best when he shoots a set shot within the rhythm of the offense.

The defense continues to play pretty solid this season after a rough start. Alabama ranks top 50 in both offensive and defensive efficiency, but they haven’t gotten consistent yet. Which is understandable due to not having a normal preseason and offseason with so many new faces. I’d suggest start Primo in the place of Shack and giving Ellis and Gary more minutes. Both guys can shoot and two of our better defenders. Rebounding is another issue, mainly offensive rebounding. Coach Oats mentioned it after the game that you cannot miss that many shots and not have any 2nd chance points. That’s effort and it wasn’t there against Clemson. They give a lot of effort, but just not consistently.

Alabama will have another tough test against a good Furman squad at home on Tuesday before playing Houston later this week (I Honestly don’t think that game will be played because of Houston’s COVID situation). If they can defeat Furman and ETSU, it was a solid (not great) non conference given the toughness of the schedule.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad. We could definitely use another quality win since Providence is the only one of those that we have so far. I'm just not very confident that we can beat a really good team like Houston right now.

@Harper41 How big of a hit would it be to lose to Furman? Looks like they aren’t a bad basketball team. If they are mature and understand how to play, we could have issues. Our zone offense is a big time issue right now against man to man.

Not Harper but the equivalent of losing to Penn last year IMO. If you have arrived as a basketball program the moral victories have to be a thing of the past. Tires of losing those type of games and saying "well Furman is the best team in their conference etc etc etc." Shouldn't have to baby these upperclassmen any longer. They should know th

Furman will win their conference and is ranked as the #3 mid major school in the country. That was a good win yesterday
