Awful first half. Seemed like it was going to be the Clemson game all over again in terms of no intensity or movement on offense. Furman jumped out 12-2 early on it seemed like ever point they scored was by a guy that was guarded by Shackelford. Our offense came along late in the first half, but they just traded buckets with us and we couldn’t cut into the lead much.

The second half was a totally different mindset. The offense looked better, the defense played with more effort, and they got clutch stops when they needed them. This team can be really good if they play with that intensity the whole game.

Herb Jones, James Rojas and Juwan Gary set the tone for the team tonight. All 3 played great defense and were efficient on offense, but their defensive intensity carried the team late. Herb made a great drive and kick to Rojas for three to give them their first lead of the night with under 2 minutes to go and they didn’t look back.

This could’ve been a classic fold it up and lose to a good mid major school at home, but they fought back from being down 16 and pulled out a big win. Credit to the players not giving up and fighting back. The test will be to play more consistent against a good WKU team this weekend.

JQ has to be better on D and more consistent with his effort. We are small when he and Shack are on the floor and it hurts our D and rebounding.

I thought from the 8:00 mark of 2nd half the intensity went through the roof, particularly defensively, and we played very well. If we can play like that all the time teams better look out. But, that was all with JQ on the bench so idk.

Good come back, but let’s be honest, if 45 doesn’t foul out we likely would have lost. This team has tourney potential, but we have to develop better chemistry on offense and make a higher percentage of three point shots to get there.

We did play much harder in the second half. Loved the energy and intensity, but still think we would've come up short if Mounce hadn't fouled out. I understand that our medical staff is still limiting Gary's minutes. Hopefully they'll give the green light to increase his playing time because we need his tenacity and athleticism.

Personally, I hope they learned in the second half of the game the importance of playing defense. I doubt we will have another opponent shoot 70% from the field in a game, with most of the points coming from distance. The other thing I cannot believe is that #5 and #23 went 1 of 6 from the charity stripe in the last two minutes of the game. Shak still has to learn to look at the rim when shooting a chippie or layup. You cannot just throw the ball in the vicinity of the basket and hope it goes in.

We have had many coaches that would be proud of four time clock violations in the second half by Furman.
