I hope you enjoyed the first 72 hours of Saban’s retirement as head coach at Bama. But not so fast. It appears your wishes and assumption that Bama would regress and falter when the GOAT retired appear to be errant. Not only did we get a classy and competent coach, it appears that there is a vision and alignment between the powers that be and Deboer that Saban will continue to contribute to football, the University and other sports. It is quite possible that the University will become stronger with the GOAT’s notoriety and success/leadership skills positioned in a higher level to sustain ”Where Legends are Made". (Too bad he couldn’t take a shot at fixing our government.) Time will tell if Saban and Miss Terry want to focus on this. But if they do, we will be better off in the long run. None of this would be possible if Byrne and the powers had pursued Kiffin.
