Of taking it game by game. Sure Alabama will only play double digit seeds until the elite eight, but that means nothing if you don’t take care of business in front of you.

Oral Roberts over Florida, Loyola over Illinois, Oregon St over Oklahoma St. what an insane day and tournament so far.

Alabama has a big opportunity, but you have to take it game by game because anything can happen.

Don’t forget #11 Syracuse over #3 WVU. This tournament seems to be producing more than the normal amount of upsets. Vegas has us only as around a 5 point favorite which concerns me.

ROLL TIDE!!!!

Well good thing us talking about the double digit thing on this forum doesn’t effect the team.

Agreed. That's what I have been saying. Fans can speculate down the road, but the players need to stay focused and concentrate on today's opponent. I managed to watch all of those upsets and they were great games. It further demonstrates the parity in bb. On any given day anybody can be had.

I think we should look ahead, that way we will have an excuse for losing to a lower seed! ;)

It's also why you can't judge this team or Oats too harshly for their outcome this season. The tournament is a totally different ballgame. Enjoy regular season wins and tournament births.

Maryland’s bigs will cause some problems tonight. Really need Petty to get squared away.

It's been a strange tournament for sure and I can't help but assume it will only get stranger. Kansas is the only "blue blood" remaining unless you count a UCLA team that barely got in via the play in game.

This bubble thing will really start to wear on the teams soon if it hasn't already. They're away from friends and family and whatever passes as "normal" for each of them. Teams that aren't all that close as a team or with a lot of freshman probably have it the worst. I've actually wondered if at least part of Petty's problem is that he's been away from his family/kids now for going on two weeks.

The key for a team like Bama when they play a team with bigs is take them off the dribble, don’t force the lay-up, spray it outside and outside make the additional pass. Pulls the bigs away from rim and opens the lanes for offensive boards...in addition to wearing them out.

JQ, Herb and Shack need the offense run thru them tonight. Having Primo on the outside would have been nice.

Regardless-just keep shooting

Maryland does not really have any bigs that play. Maryland runs a five man line up and uses three subs, withthe starting five getting most of the game time. Maryland runs a four guard one forward lineup with Scott 6'7", Hart 6'6", Ayala 6'5", Wiggins 6'6" and Hamilton 6'8". There weakness is except for Mona 6'2" that will come off the bench and play for ten minutes, they have no real point guard. The only subs they tend to use are Morsel 6'5", Smith 6'9" and Mona. I could see Ellis having a big game defensively if he can stay out of foul trouble.

They have no matchup for JQ and Shackelford. If we can keep JQ and Shackelford out of foul trouble, I can see JQ having a really big game today. They have no matchup for Herb in the middle, but we do not need Herb driving the basketball and picking up two or three charges. If we can stay out of foul trouble we win by double digits.

The difference in this game will be Ellis, if he can stay on the Court. If we win this game we play LSU in the Elite 8.

It would be kinda cool if Saban had time to visit the locker room and speak to the team about Rat poison.
If they ain't figured out that they are playing subpar by now, it really doesn't matter who says what!

I disagree. They have bigs with no mobility so that works to Alabama’s favor.

I tend to believe that if JQ and Shackelford stay out of foul trouble, that the speed of Alabama's Guards will be the difference in this game. Size wise we are basically the same size with two quicker players.

They caused UConn some trouble. Altered a ton of shots.

UConn did not have the speed or the size of Maryland. UConn played two big me that are more known for taking up space than making athletic moves.

If we make 75% of our free throws and 35% of our 3's, this game will be about like we want. JP cannot go 3-12 from the field and3-8 from the FT Line. Herb Jones must stay out of foul trouble, because there is no doubt who will be the best player on the Court tonight. In fact there will be no doubt as to the best three players on the Court tonight, Herb, Shackelford and JQ. If we get them in a fast tempo game, they are in serious trouble, as they have seven players that have logged 93% of the minutes for them all season, in other words they are not a deep team.

The hidden difference tonight is that Bruner has to give us more than 12 minutes, like he did against Iona. We are really missing Primo's 25 minutes a game and it would be nice if Rojas could give us more than four minutes without picking up five fouls. The next thing is we must always know where Scott is on the Court and we cannot send Ayala to the charity stripe.

Petty breaks out of his slump tonight/ no Terp can stay in front of Quinnerly and the Tide rolls by 15 tonight.

How was that?

If we shoot 45% from 3 we can beat most teams ... if we shoot 31% most of the teams left can beat us ... defense has been carrying us ... and defense shows up everyday.

ROLL TIDE!!!!
UCLA is one of the most underseeded teams in the tourney. They are not really a double digit seed.

That was roughly the line in the game against Maryland…
