Yeah, I didn't have the best feeling going into the MSU game when it was announced before the game that Rojas was out. And then we played like we were half asleep for most of the game. We did however manage a tough win where we probably lose in about any previous year going back to the 90s.
But after getting a high ranking and a lot of positive press I can't help but feel this team is due for an adjustment game where they find out they can't just walk on the court and blow everyone out. It's Shula-itis for basketball... that feeling that things aren't supposed to go this well without a hard crash to reality.
The Cats will be in desperation mode from here on so Cal will have them scrapping and clawing at everything. If they lose tonight there's a very real chance they miss the NCAA tournament and have to endure the horror of playing on Wednesday in the SEC tournament. A win tonight on the road would be a huge boost for them assuming they managed to run off another 8 wins to end SEC play and upset UTx on Sat.
We keep saying the next games are the toughest and will tell us most about this team but IMO this stretch of UK, @OU, LSU, @Mizzou will tell us everything about what this team can really accomplish and what the trajectory really is right now. Go 1-3 and this is a team that's just hoping for an invite and a decent seed. Go 3-1 or better and this team may be loading up for a deep run. OU and Mizzou will be really tough for this team and might be the worst matchups for us other than a hot barn team with Cooper playing out of his mind.
