I would like to express my appreciation for Cecil Hurt and his loyal devotion to UA and all it's fans.
This last article about his high school closing and his thoughts about growing up in the south with all that
has happened concerning race relations was a masterpiece in my opinion. Boys and girls that are our age
grew up in a segregated south. I grew up in Montgomery which was very active in resisting all the changes
of the 60's and 70's. I grew up integrated, but just didn't know it. I had a black man and woman that were and are my brother and sister. As she told my wife recently who was raised in Ky- Bob and I did not know about
all that stuff. We just knew we loved each other.
Thank you again Cecil Hurt for your excellent thoughts throughout he years. Coach Bryant set a good example for all of us to follow. He was one of the first to have black players such as Wilbur Jackson.
I cannot write as articulate as Cecil. I hope this post expresses the feellings of many who grew up in the changing era. I am 74.
Roll Tide!!!
