First point as a matter of fact when considering this issue. It does not matter that XYZ coach is a good guy.. Not denying that they all have the wings of Angels under their jerseys. Mr. Rogers was a good guy. Gomer Pyle was a good guy. Barney Fife was a good guy. This "he's a good guy" and "the players love him" is bull. I guarantee you the players would rather have a 40-15 record and a good coach - notice, not "a good guy". Any person who played sports undoubtedly had a time when they had a great person as a coach, but couldn't coach a lick. It is not fun to anyone when the head man is not getting the job done. So, please, enough with this sobbing, snot nosed, blubbering he's a good guy stuff.
Second, do they have batting cages in Tuscaloosa? Uuuhhh, yes. Do they have batting "tees' with which to hone one's swing in Tuscaloosa? Uuuhhh, yes. Do they have video machines in Tuscaloosa to view in-game at-bats? Uuuhhh, yes. You do not need a whole field to have batting practice people. ENOUGH with this Hoover bull. Speaking of bulls, Hoover has ZERO to do with the fact that we can't hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle. Did little Georgie Salem (who I know and like very much by the way) forget how to hit on a 30 minute air conditioned, high back, cushioned seat bus ride to Hoover? Are we that soft that we can't hit because we had a 30 minute plushy bus ride? Someone please bring me a barf bag.
In business, when pure irrational emotion gets in the way of facts, bad decisions are made. I do not know if the coaches need to be retained or hired. I do know the facts are that; 1.) we are last in the SEC West, and more worrisome, we are downward trending; 2.) our hitting is getting worse by the minute and that is not a new issue.
I do not know of a single fact that would say a change does not need to be made.
