And I am beginning to believe that I did not give Avery enough credit for his coaching because game after game Oats is just not measuring up very well against the competition,.
Good stuff, HOUNDSTOOTH1.And I am beginning to believe that I did not give Avery enough credit for his coaching because game after game Oats is just not measuring up very well against the competition,.
I don’t understand your post .what do u mean by without ?And I am beginning to believe that I did not give Avery enough credit for his coaching because game after game Oats is just not measuring up very well against the competition,.
His post makes zero senseI don’t understand your post .what do u mean by without ?
Didn’t last year’s team have oats and petty ?
I know!!! Oats coaching does not make much sense either. His post makes zero sense
Can you clarify …did you mean “with” instead of “without“in your thread title ?I know!!! Oats coaching does not make much sense either.
Last years team had leadership with great players around them. Ask UK what talent does without leadershipAnd I am beginning to believe that I did not give Avery enough credit for his coaching because game after game Oats is just not measuring up very well against the competition,.
So once they were scouted and things got taken away, it was the players fault they couldn’t get out of their own way mentally?this years team was just deficient in a few areas. They got scouted by conference play, lost confidence once some things started getting taken away, and just couldn’t get out of their own way mentally. It wasn’t that good of a team that somehow managed to have a great set of wins.
I get it.So once they were scouted and things got taken away, it was the players fault they couldn’t get out of their own way mentally?
From my point of view, when you’re scouted and things are taken away, the coaches have to adjust.
This happened last year as well. We were blowing everyone out until sometime in the middle of conference play. Teams adjusted and became more competitive but we had no answers to get back to blowing everyone out. It didn’t matter though b/c of the defense and number of shooters on the team we were still able to win most games. So once they were scouted and things got taken away, it was the players fault they couldn’t get out of their own way mentally?

We just don’t adjust. We are who we are regardless of personnel, what the other team does, etc. This happened last year as well. This year we were playing close games and when teams adjusted the scouting report it became a 50/50 win/lose.
I think it effected us defensively more than offensively. Everyone focused so much on offense which was still pretty solid despite bad shooting and turnover issues… but defensively teams literally could get any shot they wanted by any player they wanted all year. Imo that’s far and away the bigger issue than anything on offense. I really hope we add some different looks defensively next year. We will have better size on the perimeter and that may be the key to what we do defensively, but would still like to mix in some different stuff just to make teams have to do something differentThis happened last year as well. I have a friend that compares a number of stats for each team in the tournament(he, usually, does not do the 15 & 16 seeds though). Bama was dead last in point allowed per game this year, and 4th from the bottom in 3 pt %. For what it is worth.I think it effected us defensively more than offensively. At the end of the year the offense went in the tank in second half’s. Notre Dame left the door open yesterday but like what has been par for the course we have too many empty trips to finish or get back in a game.I think it effected us defensively more than offensively. You may be right. And I am beginning to believe that I did not give Avery enough credit for his coaching because game after game Oats is just not measuring up very well against the competition,.
