Both games Bama lost, their opponents shot very well. Gonzaga couldn’t miss all night, but UConn had some big runs that kept the game out of reach. That being said, I haven’t watched them play since, but we also looked like a top team last December, only to collapse later.

This is no where near the same team as last December

It's crazy that a few weeks ago it seemed like UConn was about the best team around and our loss to them was going to look about as good as a loss can look. But now they might actually play their way down to and below the bubble somehow making that a bad loss.

I have to wonder if they had something similar happen to them that happened to us last season after some big Dec wins. That or their conference opponents just know how to beat them.

It's also crazy that a few weeks ago the SEC looked as strong as it has been. Now there may only be 3 or 4 sure tournament invites when March rolls around. Ark has completely imploded but their schedule softens up a bit until they come to T-Town. UK is having to play their way back up to the bubble and then climb over it. A&M isn't going to hold on long as an undefeated conference team. That schedule flips on them going into Feb.

Can bama stay at this level? That's the question. They are playing peak basketball. We won't ever hit 100, 90, or 80 % of our shots. Let's take it a little easier and call this what it is... Our best 2 weeks of basketball I've seen in my lifetime and overall our best start to a season. It's not close. Hope they can just keep playing with their same intensity on every defensive possession and fight for every rebound the way they've been doing. It makes all the difference. This team is hot. If they continue to decide they're not going to give an inch, i think we definitely have a shot to go all the way. They're just too deep with talent.

How do we know we aren’t peaking right now?
Folks expecting Bama to reach some higher level of play like they aren't playing fantastic right now. Regardless of how the schedule shakes out Bama is arguably the best team in the SEC and on a neutral site probably the favorite against all but maybe 3 teams in the entire nation. 3!!!!!!! This isn't last year's team. This team plays D and rebounds. All 10 guys are valuable and contribute. We have the best collection of guard play in the nation and a top 3 NBA draft pick that doesn't miss free throws or three pointers. For the first time in a long time getting knocked out of the tournament is going to really really hurt because they have a legit chance at winning the whole thing.

Alabama has plenty of room to grow. Look at their shooting numbers. 2 guys (Miller and Sears) shooting over 40% from 3. The rest? Nobody over 33% and they’ve missed a starter the past month. Freshmen and sophomores don’t peak 18 games into a season, they only continue to improve. Has the play been impressive? Sure. Outside of the LSU game and the 2nd half of the UK game, which SEC games indicate they’ve peaked? None of them. It’s just been business as usual, but this team can get so much better once Nimari is back, JQ gets 100%, Griffen and Dom start hitting shots, etc. The SEC overall is so bad it can look like Alabama has been invincible but the numbers show there’s room for growth.

Agree. I really like how this team does not give an inch and seems to be very resilient. We have some very mature Freshman.

Since Miles is gone, if l am not mistaken we have only 3 players on the team who have ever played together before this season. JQ, Bedioko, and Gurley. Burnett was on the team last year, but was injured all year. Top that off with being a very young team overall and we should still be learning to play together. This team certainly may improve. Lets hope so anyway.

ROLL TIDE

I will give him another game or two since he has just made it back from his injury, but I think he will get a lot better.
l agree Mr. winin11. lf Dom can hit a couple and get his confidence up, he has a history of being a good 3 point shooter. Hope we can get him back in the groove before tournament time. l think he can help us, especially when we have kids getting in foul trouble.

Apparently he has not gotten down on himself. Oates has made it clear he does well at practice. Just a matter of time IMO.
