TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball suffered its first significant setback of the offseason, as head coach Nate Oats announced Thursday that South Florida transfer Chris Youngblood will miss non-conference play with an ankle injury.
Oats said that Youngblood should be back to 100% by the time Alabama begins SEC play in early January. However, the Crimson Tide will need to find a replacement for the reigning AAC Co-Player of the Year in the meantime.
Youngblood is projected to be a substantial part of Alabama’s rotation this season. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound shooting guard is coming off a standout season in which he averaged 15.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 41.6% from beyond the arc.
Here’s a look at what games he will miss with his injury and how Alabama will replace him on the court.
