Welcome back to football season, well the spring portion of it anyway. Alabama head coach Nick Saban will speak to the media after the team's first spring practice. Saban is expected to begin his press conference around 6 p.m. Check back in for live updates.
— Nick Saban: "I was very impressed with the way our team went about the offseason program and the progress we made not only in conditioning but also in simulated training."
— Saban said Jalen Milroe "made a lot of plays" and "in a different way than Bryce made plays." Saban said Ty Simpson is "also someone we think has developed and made a lot of improvement and has a lot of potential to be a pretty good player."
— Nick Saban: "Hopefully we have some players that step up and become leaders." Saban said they have not yet picked a leadership group but they have an "advisory committee" that advises the rest of the players on Saban's message. "They have to earn the right to [be leader]."
— Saban on Alabama's 2023 O-line: "I like the players that we have in the offensive line. I think we have some bigger, more physical."
— Kevin Steele will walk around and coach the entire defense while Travaris Robinson will coach the entire secondary for Alabama.
— Saban: Deontae Lawson and Dallas Turner are probably "out of the spring completely" after surgeries. "Shouldn't be any issues for them moving forward," he added.
— Roydell Williams and DeVonta Smith are recovering from injuries but are expected to return in the spring. Robbie Ouzts, Jah-Marien Latham and Justin Eboigbe are limited.
