What will be the long term effect of the win over Gonzaga?

I'm not Harper41, but I hope the victory will inspire current players and let them know they can play and possibly defeat anyone.
This. Would be very easy for Gonzaga to play a couple of P5 schools every year and then dominate their conference en route to a 1 or 2 seed. They have gotten to Blue Blood status by playing anybody anywhere. A victory such as this is Oats knocking the door down and saying we are here to stay. You don't see a whole lot of dodging amongst Blue Bloods because they know that win or lose the game is great for their program. I fully expect Bama to be scheduling UCLA, UNC, Duke, Kansas, etc going forward as this program continues to rise.

Hard to imagine this victory not helping with recruiting to an extent. Not sure Oats had to have this victory. The guy's system and personality are perfect for today's athletes. Shoot I am 41 and just listening to him talk makes me want to run through brick wall for him.

It amazes me to hear Coach Oats talk about how the Bama "Brand" impacts basketball recruiting. He mentions that every asset that the football team has is available to all sports. Hearing that the basketball team watched the first half of the SEC Championship game, and the football team watched the end of the Gonzaga game on their flight home is awesome. Synergy. Coach Saban's dynasties are spreading to all sports!

I don't know about the "brick wall" thingy, but I agree about tough scheduling. It can only help in the long run. By the time SEC play rolls around, their feet are already wet, so all they have to do is dive in.

One win over a top 5 team doesn't mean anything if you shit the bed the rest of the way. If this team goes on to have the season it's projected to have, it's a building block for seeding and recruiting...
Pretty much this. We gotta keep beating the teams we should beat, and be in the tough games with a chance to win late, pull our fair share, and make the tourney with a good seeding. From there, we need to make it to the second weekend.

Harper, will the win over Gonzaga have a long term effect on recruiting.
I'm not sure about a "long term" effect but I do think it gives Oats another "reason to play for Bama" sales pitch. And, I guarantee recruits took notice of that win.
