Where was Gurley?

What are we going to do when we play a big team, sit JQ and Sears?

I'm not sure. Welch was benched on Saturday for match-up reasons. I'm just glad we're deep enough to have the luxury of picking and choosing who plays based on the match up

Rarely. It’s either Bediako or Clowney majority of the time. Miller typically plays the 3, but played the 4 last night a good bit.
I get it. But I’ve never heard of this and honestly don’t like it. If he’s banged up, it’s different. But if he’s a healthy scratch just bc of matchups, I don’t like that. And a player worth anything wouldn’t either.

I get it. It’s honestly baffling to me because he’s been playing well as of late. One thing I will say is this team really has bought in and will do anything Oats thinks is best

Not saying Jordan is not right, because he should know better than me, but maybe it was a one game punishment for some minor infraction like missing a class, or something of that matter, and CNO did not want to make it public and needlessly embarrass the young man. Just spit balling, but he was there, looked healthy, and if it were something bigger than what Jordan said, or my thought, I imagine CNO would have told us.

“No concussion, it’s just a facial injury. The doctor checked him out. We’re assuming he’s going to be good to go on Saturday, but I was told it was a facial injury.”

Playing a small line up was the direction CNO felt was best for this game and it worked pretty well. 28 point win. Castleman did get his share of points but there were several times one of the smaller guards helped double team him and prevented him from being able to put the ball on the floor and working back to the basket. Gurley would not have been quick enough to do that effectively.

I doubt it, otherwise several other players have had infractions as well. Welch was benched for LSU, there was a couple game stretch where Pringle didn't play. All were match-up related. Oats thinks a little differently about matchups. He's the only coach I've ever heard say you don't necessarily want your 5 best guys to be starters.

It’d be better to just say he needed a game off physically than to say he sat for matchup reasons. If I’m a recruit, I’m remembering that.

We didn't do a great job of guarding CC last night, but IMO Pringle played instead of Gurley behind Bediako because he was a better match-up defensively against CC.

As l said this is just my opinion.

That makes sense but it doesn’t make sense as to why Gurley didn’t dress and play at all.
“Hey Buddy…you’ve been playing really well for us. But the matchup isn’t great tonight. Just wear your street clothes and sit the bench!”

l guess l'm wrong then, but l thought he was in uniform and went through warm-ups.
