l knew we had a good basketball team, but l would have never believed we would have won our first 7 SEC games all by double digits. Four of them on the road at that.
I told your dad before the season started that I was excited about this team’s potential, but I can’t say I was expecting this so far.l knew we had a good basketball team, but l would have never believed we would have won our first 7 SEC games all by double digits. Four of them on the road at that.
It seems like yesterday when we could not win a road game my friend. I believe we actually went 2-22 in road games in Gottfrieds first 3 years in conference play. This bunch seems to thrive on the opposing fans giving them hell.l knew we had a good basketball team, but l would have never believed we would have won our first 7 SEC games all by double digits. Anyone claiming to have known this is either lying or not telling the truth. Well said! 👍It seems like yesterday when we could not win a road game my friend. I believe we actually went 2-22 in road games in Gottfrieds first 3 years in conference play. This bunch seems to thrive on the opposing fans giving them hell.
What makes this team so damn good is that we have many different ways to beat you. Obviously Miller is the headliner, but when he is off we have plenty of other guys that can beat you. The depth of this team will be huge as well come tournament time, with Miller, Sears, Clowney, Bradley, Bediako, Quinerly, Gurley, Griffen, Burnett and Welch when they get their feet under them we will legitimately go 10 deep with guys that can beat you.
The offense has been great, but the defense has been the biggest surprise to me, guys are taking pride in playing defense.
The remainder of this season should be fun. I know we can’t win them all, but they damn sure appear to be trying to do so.
ROLL TIDE!!!!
Plus Nick Pringle is not a polished basketball player, but he is as athletic as anybody on the team. That kid has springs in his legs and l think he will eventually develope into a very good player. Gotta work on his shooting, keeping fouls down and just playing under control. It seems like yesterday when we could not win a road game my friend. l agree and he had 3-3's, one of which really brought the momentum back over to the good guys.If Griffen had more minutes he would average double digits easy. With Clowney and Miller gone next year we will see that RTR
Throw in some great transfer pickups such as Sears to go with this Fab 4 and hopefully our future will be bright. Hoping this is the year we can actually say the future is now.Michigan had the Fab Five. Can we have the Fab 4? No way those guys are freshman. They play with the poise of multi year starters.
Pringle not being polished is one reason I wish we could get another year out of Clowney. But he is getting better and better and looks like keeping him another season is a pipe dream. Oats is going to have to go front court shopping with our expected losses.Plus Nick Pringle is not a polished basketball player, but he is as athletic as anybody on the team. Outstanding post by the way.
Gottfried had some of the most abominable road blowout losses in our basketball history. Those teams probably own the top 10 worst road blowouts category. In spite of having a fair bit of talent the whole team could vanish in any road venue much less a rowdy one. They were also prone to losing to teams that weren't very talented but played hard and tough. It seems like yesterday when we could not win a road game my friend. The Elite 8 was nowhere close to Gottfried's best team. They did surprise us at tournament time though and gave us something to get excited about.Gottfried had some of the most abominable road blowout losses in our basketball history. That elite 8 run is probably the biggest fluke in all of sports history at the UofA. The perfect storm of the right guys hot at the right time and opponents that just didn't match up well against us.
I hope Oats can get this team past the elite 8 so we can forget about the Gottfried era altogether.
