After game one what combination do you like on the court to start against Stanford? Why?

Quinerly, Petty, Shackelford, Herb Jones, and Rojas.

I think liked Rojas aggressive play and think he is more of scoring threat than Bruner and better on the boards.

Stanford’s leading scorer is 6’9” and we need Bruner to start then let CNO play with his bench.
I don’t think they can keep up with us bench wise, but our shooting % needs to improve.

And their other big guy is a likely lottery pick in the upcoming NBA draft, so we will need Herb, Bruner, Rojas all to bring their work clothes.

correct--we need to shoot better and keep them off the offensive glass. we gave up way to many offensive boards.

i really like this team though and i am excited.

Awful small
And we were weak on the glass against Jacksonville
Here‘s the thing with this offense. We have to shoot fast, but not so fast that we don’t have a player under the basket to rebound. With this lineup, every player can shoot the 3, plus probably our best rebounders. Petty, Herb, and Rojas are all good rebounders. Shack just got a double-double so I don’t worry about the size.

Then why did we give up 20 offensive rebounds to Jacksonville state?

I am not saying we can or cannot shoot, but we sure didn’t shot well from outside the arc in the last game, against an inferior opponent.

Good question, but I think because we shot too fast with no one in position.
If you’ve got an open shot you take it! Of course, You want to be smart with the numbers, but this ain’t football where if you get a 3 and out the defense gets tired. Don’t pass up the open look. Nothing worse than a basketball player that is scared to put the shot up! (See Alabama under Grant). Now you can be judicious about it and know your range, but shoot the ball if it’s there!

To me Reese and our other rebounders are constantly out of position under the basket defending. Most of the time they are trying to rebound by reaching over and across the opposition around the basket. I’m surprised that more over the back calls weren’t called the other night! There is only one player that is usually in position defending and that’s Herb!
