Coleman Coliseum is a long way from being a dump, but l know many people are calling for a new venue. l'm wondering will NIL contributions take away contributions for a new venue and also contributions that we normally get for improvements to other facilities in other sports.

l personally believe this will happen at Bama and many other schools.

Almost no question it will imop. These donors are not going to increase their financial contributions, they are just going to give them to the football/BB players upfront, instead of giving as much to the universities to determine what to do with it(building improvements, scholarships, etc).

Well, NIL as it was intended isn't boosters paying players. It's businesses and media outlets paying for the use of a players image or name or something. So in the most strict sense neither should affect the other in as much as it pertains to NIL money and athletic department donations.

Now, reality as it stands today, yes it could create a facility donation shortfall. Joe Booster's company tax write off donation to the school turns into an expense for marketing that moves funds around so the program gets a new 5*.

But because it's basketball in T-Town we'll be spending at a MAC level for our bball NIL so maybe it won't be as big of a drain on those facility funds?

I think Coleman is a terrible facility and we need either a new one or the updated Coleman they planned. We have thrown millions into over the years and it has been a waste. The practice facility is top notch, but Coleman as a venue is no where close to good. Auburn's arena gives them an instant advantage and almost guarantees an undefeated home schedule.
