Now that Stanford and Utah both lost, no team from the PAC 12 can get in. That brings it down to the final 4 power 5 conferences and Notre Dame battling it out for the 4 spots. If Notre Dame loses to Stanford, it indeed will be conference champs in the playoff as it always should be. It will always play itself out. If ND wins out, then that's when the controversy begins.
