Once upon a time, Alabama's women were the second team in the SEC and were a fixture to go deep in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. I know it is just the Quarterfinals of the Women's NIT, where we lost to Georgia Tech by 10 in Atlanta, but this program is back.
Next year we return everybody and the move to back Coleman from Foster was a plus for the program. Quality in state recruits are again looking at the U of A and the commitment to Women's Basketball. Next year, there is absolutely no reason that we will be looking at playing anywhere other than the Women's NCAA Tournament. Six years ago, we were looking at being lucky to win an SEC game and a program that was so bad that we could not have filled up Barnwell Hall, if the team had played there instead of Foster.
I hate to brag on a coaching staff, since that would be the kiss of death to a coaches career, but the present staff was a great hire and they are placing the program back on a solid footing. The future is bright for Women's basketball at the U of A. I look for the day that when they talk WBB at Alabama they are talking us in the same breath as Miss State and USCe.
