Both Witchita State & VCU have been to more Final Fours in history than Alabama and more Conference Championships. Both have trended upwards and Bama down in recent years as well. Even Grant was more successful at VCU and setup Smart for success. With coaches like Stevens going to the NBA from Butler and Calipari going from Memphis to UK etc what would a coach gain? Would they be regressing coming to our program thats been average and dont bring up CM Newton or Wimp kids we recruit werent alive then. Why would Marshall leave the state where Naismith & Rupp resided. Why would Shaka leave the same recruiting base that produced Allen Iverson, Kevin Durant and Michael Jordan? Is our best bet a coach with a sketchy past like Pearl, Howland or Capel or a lower level coach like Prohm or Mike Davis? I think so
Would Marshall & Smart being regressing professonally to come to Bama
