*** On the Defensive line:?That the switch from outgoing senior to new starter will result in a performance drop-off is frequently and understandably assumed. But sources close to the team -- and even Damion Square himself -- have said the Square-to-Pagan torch passing could potentially result in an upgrade. Hard to believe considering Square just sank his hands into wet cement at Denny Chimes just a few days ago, but such is the respect for Pagan's upside. Senior Ed Stinson was a stalwart at the other end all spring, and sources said he was at the center of the pile on running plays to his side in every scrimmage. The real questions on the defensive line are whether the combination of Brandon Ivory and Darren Lake can adequately replace nose guard Jesse Williams, and whether second-teamers LaMichael Fanning and Dalvin Tomlinson can play with enough consistency to command as many snaps as Pagan and Quinton Dial did a year ago.?
