It appears there is no reward to scheduling quality opponents, as seen by the rankings. After 10 weeks of the season, here are the number of quality Top 20 opponents each of the top 10 teams have played and the number they have remaining:

Georgia played one, Missouri Ole Miss and Tennessee remaining

Ohio State played one Penn State Michigan remaining

Michigan played none Ohio State and Penn State remaining

Washington played one Oregon Oregon State and Utah remaining

Oregon played two, Washington and Utah with Oregon State and USC remaining

Texas played Two Alabama and Oklahoma with none remaining

Florida State played one LSU with none remaining

Alabama played four LSU, Tennessee, Texas and Ole Miss with none remaining

Ole Miss played two Alabama and LSU with one remaining Georgia

Penn State played one, Ohio State, with one remaining Michigan

Michigan should be penalized, because if they were not undefeated at the present time, they would be horrible. The only team FSU has beaten has also been beaten by Alabama and Ole Miss by double digits. Two of the first four ranked teams have yet.
