Football Recruiting 2024 Ala. DE Jeremiah Beaman high on the Tide early

Beaman has slowly seen his stock rise as the year’s progressed. He picked up an offer from Georgia yesterday bringing his total offers close to 20 schools.

Beaman is a local kid, who has close ties to the Tide but at the same time he’s enjoying the process.

New SEC Scheduling Model

It now appears that the SEC will not be going to a POD system. The powers seem to be favoring a system, where you play three regular opponents and then play six rotating opponents. That means that Alabama could play Auburn, Tennessee and either LSU/Miss State every year and then play the other twelve teams twice every four years. Basically each team would be drawing their own three team POD, so you could preserve some of the annual rivalries.

Will Reichard Prediction from 2019 ...

As you folks know, I'm not right very often but when my grandson told me about Will when Will was a Junior in HS and Blanton was an instructor at a Chris Sailer kicking camp I listened. Blanton ended up starting 4 years at Louisville and hold numerous records including most accurate FG kicker in their history. Also knowing he's not one for hyperbole got my attention. (Heck, if he hadn't played with Lamar Jackson, he probably would have had 20-25 more attempts! With Lamar almost every time it was 4th and less than 8 on the plus side of the field, Petrino would go for it!)

After that first camp, he told me to be on the look out for him. He said Will was the "real deal" and huge Bama fan ... said he had seen a lot of "camp kickers" who come and do well but Will has that "something special." Also said he was a great kid and not just a great kicker! Based on that, I made this post back in the summer of 2019! Just for grins:

"I'm going to go out on a limb (maybe not so much!) and say that Will Reichard will be the greatest kicker in Bama history! I am not saying he will make 100% of his FGs, but will be our highest percentage and highest scoring kicker of all time. Wow!! Did I really just say that..."

Run the ball! Check these stats!

I think the vertical passing game and protecting the QB are the best when we spend some time under center or in the pistol running the ball and using play action. Just wanted to throw that out there. But check out these stats from this past weekend…insane.

Navy beat UCF- 64 plays- 63 rushes for 248 yards and 0-1 passing.
Army beat UCONN- 59 plays- 58 rushes for 320 yards and 0-1 passing.
Air Force beat Colorado State- 73 plays- 71 rushes for 359 yards and 0-2 passing.

Let’s not go this extreme. But let’s find our identity again.

GIF breakdown: Examining Jase McClellan's big runs against Austin Peay

Nearly half of McClellan’s touches over the weekend went for first downs or touchdowns while five resulted in gains of 10 yards or more. Those who were able to keep up with him didn’t do much to slow him down either. According to Pro Football Focus, the 5-foot-11, 212-pound back drug defenders an average of 5.69 yards per attempt after contact.

GIF breakdown: Alabama's offense struggled near the end zone against LSU

Counting the pair of failed two-point conversions, Alabama ran 11 plays inside LSU’s 10-yard line. They resulted in a loss of 2 yards.
