Football 🏈 Tony's takes: Alabama's Mr. November could prompt a deep postseason run

Popeye has his spinach, Mario has his mushrooms and Jalen Milroe has November. Here's my column on how Alabama's Mr. November could lead a deep playoff run for the Tide.

Football 🏈 'Forgive, never forget': Jalen Milroe, Alabama get revenge in Tiger Stadium

“Forgive, never forget,” Jalen Milroe said when asked about Alabama getting redemption in its return to Tiger Stadium. “I think that’s something we do as a football team. You’re going to have losses, you’re going to have wins. All your losses turn into a lesson. You just try to really look internally at what we need to do so that we can be our best us.”

Hoops 🏀 The three-pointer: Takeaways from Alabama's win over Arkansas State

Another foul fest, Alabama battles through shooting woes and Derrion Reid makes big plays late.

A weird one inside Coleman tonight. Here are a few instant takeaways.

Football 🏈 Robbie Ouzts' dirty work has earned the respect of former Alabama fullbacks

The designation beside Robbie Ouzts' name on Alabama's roster is tight end. If he had it his way, it'd read something different.

"I like to say I play fullback as well, even though fullback is a little extinct,” Ouzts said during an appearance on The Kalen DeBoer Show last month.

The fullback position — or what's left of it in today's game — is why Ouzts was recruited to Alabama. His love for the role is why he wears the No. 45 and why he doesn't blink before charging into SEC defenders whenever he gets the opportunity. The fullback position is also why you'll be seeing Ouzts continue his blue-collar brand of football on Sundays in the coming years.

Hoops 🏀 Grant Nelson awakens to power No. 2 Alabama basketball past Arkansas State

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The “Dakota Durant” is back for Alabama basketball. After a quiet season opener on Monday, Grant Nelson drew a roar from the Coleman Coliseum crowd multiple times during the Crimson Tide’s 88-79 victory over Arkansas State on Friday night.

The South Dakota native showed off his body control in the first half, driving from the top of the arc before maneuvering past Arkansas State forward Justin Johnson for a layup.

So you want to play in the NBA?

You could go the a college with instant playing time. After all you are a highly rated recruit out of high school.
But all you have seen so far is high school competition. Sure you could choose a college that will give you a starting spot your freshman year with a cup cake schedule. You could really shine your freshman year because of weak competition.
And you haven’t increased your ability to play against top competition.
Or you can sign with a school like Alabama. A school that schedule’s the best of the best. Sure you will have to come off the bench to get minutes in the game your freshman year. But, the competition will prepare you to reach your dreams.

Football 🏈 Staff predictions: Our picks for No. 11 Alabama at No. 15 LSU

If No. 2 Alabama wants to keep its playoff hopes alive, it will need to survive a night game against No. 15 LSU in Death Valley on Saturday. The Crimson Tide heads into Tiger Stadium as 2.5-point favorites in what will serve as College GameDay’s game of the week.

Alabama holds a 56-27-5 advantage over LSU and came away with a 42-28 victory during last year’s game in Tuscaloosa. However, the Tide saw its playoff hopes dashed in Baton Rouge two years ago when the Tigers pulled off a 32-31 overtime victory.

Here’s how Tide Illustrated’s staff thinks Saturday’s game will play out.
