Alabama’s disappointing year concluded with perhaps its darkest day, as the Crimson Tide stumbled through a 19-13 defeat to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

The loss saw the Tide muster up just 260 yards of offense, as Jalen Milroe turned the ball over three times in one of his worst performances of the season.

Alabama’s defense held Michigan to 190 yards. But even that was bittersweet, as star linebacker Jihaad Campbell’s likely final moments in a Crimson Tide jersey were spent limping off the field.

With the loss, Alabama failed to reach the 10-win mark for the first time since retired head coach Nick Saban’s first year in 2007. Still, while things look bleak, there were a few silver linings to the ugly bowl showing.

Here are three pieces of encouragement for Kalen DeBoer and company from the loss.

Silver lining as well. The Defense, despite what some posters on here think, was outstanding. Lowest points allowed since 2017.
Count me as a naysayer… the highest ranked offense Alabama played was Tennessee at #15. LSU#26, AU#29 was next and then Georgia in the 30’s.

Do any of those teams strike fear in anyone? Georgia’s was far and away the most successful. Tenn ran for over 100 yards in the second half… lsu was our best all around game .. AU was just terrible.

I just saw way too many poor series to give them too much praise

Thought they were overall pretty good and improved. Shutout mizzu, held teams in check. Did struggle at times but overall improved IMO

The defense played well enough this season- not great but good enough all things considered.

The offense certainly did NOT.

I’ll give him next year because I have no say and no choice .
The Mizzou game was great; however, Mizzou did not have a competent qb that game since their starter was out

You may want to get use to those kind of disappointments in the next couple of years . Given the resources, talent ,& rich history of this football program ,no way that should of ever happened. Like I've said before unless there are big changes ( which I don't see ) we'll be having this same conversation next year . Welcome to nuclear winter for Alabama ,.. And, I HOPE I am freaking wrong , but I don't think so!
